ABLE Web, an application that is used to prepare library materials for binding, is based on Java technology. Originally, ABLE Web was launched in a web browser but, for security reasons, we eliminated the direct browser use of ABLE. We now use Web Start which allows users to download and run the application in a standalone environment.
There are two software options available for launching ABLE:
- Oracle Java
- OpenJDK with IcedTea-Web
As the security requirements for Java have increased, we have fine-tuned the tools and software versions that are needed in order to run ABLE successfully. Below is a link to the latest step-by-step instructions for installing both software options.
